I prefer not to have my id online with 3rd party vendor.

I guess they do not have a local presence to verify ID - but there are many MVNO that does not require ID verification.

Tips and Tricks?

It is an ID verification service, not a 3rd party vendor.
I understand another good point against this too, We'd prefer to keep from posting our ID anywhere. Every place on the web is either selling our data or getting hacked.

But let's face reality. Your info is out there already. This company will keep it as secure as possible, but nothing is 100% safe now. I don't get upset over this requirement. They want to limit people from exploiting their deals more than they "should" from the MVNO's perspective. They limit you to a certain number of incentivized phones per person.

Metro, for example, also uses a form of identity verification. They ask you questions that are tied to you from credit bureaus and other public records.
This proves that they know who you are by your name and address. So there would not be much more exposure if you had to send them your ID. I prefer their method as it is a few simple questions.

Yes, there are many MVNOs to choose from. It is simply your call on the value of the specific deals offered vs potentially paying more to the others who don't require ID checks.

Ever since credit bureaus were hacked, it was game over in my eyes. All I have to worry about now is monitoring and being reactionary.

I'm utilizing the monitoring services. They're constantly being provided for 2 years for free from the sites getting hacked.

I just think there is no privacy or guarding our identities. We have to rely on 2FA and other proof of identity now since the info is out there.

TY - but I believe that this MVNO provider asked me if my ID is on my cell phone? I assumed scan of my Driv Lic. So I quit.

You are saying its not a big deal?

Which provider are you speaking of specifically? I have had experience as this user says using Total Wireless' method here:

I started out on TW web site, when it got to the step to do ID Verification it showed a QR code to be scanned with your phone, or have a link sent to your phone. Turn on WiFi or Data on your phone, click on the link or scan the QR code, it'll ask you to take front and back photos of your DL or ID card, then it asks you to take a selfie. Then it comes back saying "ID Verification Complete. You can close this screen and go back to the web site". If you order the subsequent phone(s) within 10 days or so from the ID Verification, you won't have to verify again. Longer than that, it'll say your verification has expired and you'll to verify again.
Well that means to me they have my data in their system and its at the hacker's mercy!
I do not know why they had to go to this level for a cheap phone service?

The reason as I mentioned briefly before is because people will make up names to get around these super great MVNO cheap deal provider's set limits. Let's say they limit you to 2 devices on a certain deal per customer. You get 2.
You are greedy and want more but no one else you know to order them for like a spouse gets.
So you could try order 2 more for a fake name if they do not get your Identity verification.

Like I also mentioned, hackers already have your information. This is just another brick in the big wall, so to speak.

If you have been dealing with any credit history, internet purchases, healthcare, even when you visit a store and use your debit or credit cards, it's out there and has been hacked already. This is the main reason why you now see so many places requiring two-factor identification when logging in. They all will soon as security improves. Some are even using three-factor or more identification.
login credentials
captcha codes
email codes
phone text codes
Now DL is just another format some are requiring. It will get tougher to hack into your accounts, not easier. This can be seen as a great additional security thing if you change your perspective. You would not want someone using your name without consent.
Privacy is dead. Now we only have extra security measures to take its place.
