These are supposed to be the one-piece pop-up ones that you just twist, fold, and store in the included bag. The only extra pieces should be the stakes. I don't have these yet, but I've had something similar in the past. Are you sure these are the ones you returned? The product page says they "easily pop up in seconds" and "twist and fold down and store in the included carry bag."

Double check. The description says pops up nothing about connections. I just purchased one set.

But reviews mention about assembly.
Maybe it just requires assembly the first time you use them? I sure hope that's the case. Otherwise, free returns within 90 days after the item is delivered.
I don't need to check anything; description even says "assembled dimensions"
