This is the pulsar dual fuel 2200 watt generator. Runs 2200 surge watts, 1800 running watts on gas. 2000/1600 on propane. I bought this generator a few months back for$360 on a sale and thought that was good. Pretty much a steal at $299. You save an additional $50 if picking up in store.

Good price for sure for dual fuel.

Although it seems shipping is $50, not free.

I see what you're saying about the shipping. However, i've never seen this unit for under $360 with free shipping. So $299 is still smoking for a Duel-Fuel. An extra 50 off for picking it up is even better. However most of us aren't lucky enough to have a camping world anywhere close by...

How is the operating noise on this bad boy compared to other similarly sized units from, say, Honda (which are of course much more expensive!)?

It looks like it has to be in-stock at the store to do the order pickup. Unfortunately there's none in-stock within 300 miles of me. It's a little less power than I was aiming for, but if I could get it for $250, I'd probably get it anyway.

It says 60 decibels in the description. I've never tested the decibel level of mine. But I Will say of the 3 small generators I have this one is the quietest. The others being a 2000w Firman and a 2500w Wen.

It's loud. I bought a DuroMax XP2000EH (a clone of this Pulsar) for $350 about 7 years ago. I have only used it a few times. Up close it's over 70 dB and 30 feet away it's maybe 65dB. I have only run it on propane but the fumes were really strong. Great price but loud and smelly. Reviews on camping world site are not very good, 2 people complaining that handle broke on second pull or did not work out of the box. Generator bible can give you some more info on it.

I haven't noticed it smelling any different than any other dual fuel generator i've used. I actually prefer the smell of propane emissions versus gas. But everyone's probably different on that.

As far as the noise. I thought it sounded on the quieter side. But I don't load it very heavy. How heavy of load do you run?

800 to 1000 watts. Ran it about 5 hours. It's best for wide open areas or noise will reverberate.

Weird, everything I read is saying 58-62 decibels.

Actually this is PG2200iSCO not PG2200BiS so specs are different than what I saw on generator bible. It's not going to be quiet. Maybe 55 dB with no load on eco and 65 dB with a load. That would be my guess. A quiet dual fuel will cost more, for example Champion 2500 watt (claimed 53dB) that is $472 on Amazon.

Hmm, what is the difference besides one having a CO detector?
IMO, 65 db is not all that loud for a generator, especially a dual fuel for ~$350.
I was looking at getting a conversion kit for my older 2000/1600 watt inverter I have for around $160, but I can get this brand new one for 2x the price, but stay at the same power level I already have (the 2000/1600 would be around 1800/1400 on propane).

For that price difference. I would buy this one and have the other as a back up. But I tend to overbuy when it comes to generators and battery ecoflow units.

Not sure of what your needs of the generator would be. But if you're using it as an emergency back up, I would be concerned about the low wattage of the one you were thinking about converting to propane. I'm only saying that because with a max of 1400 running watts, You most likely would not be able to power a microwave or small convection oven. With this unit you just barely can...
