Similar to other Total Frontpage deals, I hadn't seen this posted yet and stumbled upon it this AM. I picked on up on the $65 plan as I have multiple lines, have not tested on the $55 plan but it mentions you should be able to:

Total Wireless offers New Customers: 128GB Samsung Galaxy A36 5G Smartphone (locked) for Free when purchased with 30-Days of Prepaid Service on their Total 5G Unlimited Plan for $55. Port-in of an existing phone number and ID verification is required. Device will unlock automatically 60 days after plan activation w/ two months of active, paid service required in order to unlock as of April 1, 2025 (see unlock policy). Shipping is free.

Ok, so I got this deal the last time it was posted. I had to do the ID verification which was annoying, but not too intrusive, but some ppl might not be as willing as I was (provide selfie and pics of DL).

When the phone arrived and you go to the website to activate it gives you the option of porting a number or getting a new number which was a big win for me since I wanted to just pay for the service to get the phone and then use the phone with my existing service. Pretty sure it will unlock just fine in two month. Anyone else do this already and can confirm?

While the Moto Edge has some benefits like wireless charging and and faster chip, I personalty would choose the A36 with 6 years of Android updates and most likely the better camera and support over all.
But needs are different.

Thank you for the description. I would also like to know if I don't need to port in a number to get the deal. It's a pain since you can't use Google voice numbers anymore.

Since when? I used a gv number to get the confirmation code for the id verify deal.

I might have read it in another deal, but I might mix it up with Metro. Thanks for checking

No prob. Haven't tried to port it yet. But it worked for confirmation. Can you get these and not port and still get the free phone (they don't try to claw back the discount do they?)

A36 vs Moto Edge 2024: Reasons to consider the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G
  • Shows 7% longer battery life (23:59 vs 22:25 hours)
  • Has 50% more RAM: 12GB versus 8GB
  • Newer Bluetooth version (v5.4)
  • The phone is 1 year newer
  • Delivers 21% higher peak brightness (1244 against 1032 nits)
  • More recent OS version: Android 15 versus 14
  • Supports higher wattage charging (45W versus 25W)
Bonus is the 6 years of support vs 2 years of the Moto.
Does A36 also have curved edge like A35 and Edge?
What advantage it has over A35?

Too many incorrect info above. A36 has 6GB RAM, slower CPU than Edge, slower charging speed than Edge's 68W.

So as per the new unlock policy, we need to have two months of paid service. I heard we can pay $10 from Tracfone for the second month? How and where do we get that deal? And can we activate it without the phone? I need to send the phone as a gift but want to know if I can get and pay for the $10 Tracfone plan without having the phone physically?

Do you really care if you only get two years of android updates? It's a $55 phone. Use it, beat it, get the newest $50 phone in two years

I would like to add to it that this phone has 6gb of memory only, which is likely to be insufficient in 2 years anyway

If multiple lines do you get discount? I already have one line for $55. I am placing a new line order and I still see $55 for the second line
