Verizon Prepaid has a deal where the iPhone 14 Plus (256 GB model) is discounted to $249.99, if an Unlimited plan is added ($60 for Unlimited, $70 for Unlimited Ultimate, cost of the first month). Plus taxes and fees on the phone as well as the plan. A variety of colors are available. It doesn't appear to require a port-in.

Additionally, the 512 GB model is available for $50 more.

Other details about the plans:
  • Autopay is $10 off per month, but is not available in the first month.
  • More than one Unlimited phone line on the same account will result in a plan discount of $20
  • You can also get another $20/month credits for up to 10 months of subsequent service, which is reported to start 1-2 months after activation. However, this post is more about the device deal, as the service deal is all right, but also not that great. However, with multiple lines on the same account, it may be reasonably competitive.

Current Verizon device unlock policy is 60 days after activation.

Is this something where you can get the device, pay a month, and then bail? And if so, could the phone be unlocked? (Sorry, if this is an ignorant question, I'm a noob.)

Thanks, got this as looks to be a great deal. I am assuming it's not necessary to pay for the second month and still it gets unlocked after 60 days? Also will I be able to use Visible SIM when still locked (Visible is owned by Verizon)

I had a 16 plus from them and it required 60 days paid to unlock.

Add at least a $60 plan and you should see the discounted price in your cart.

Upon checking with customer support online, this does require 60 days of uninterrupted service to get unlocked. Also for someone who already has a line active, adding a new line can get the $60 plan for $40 or lower (with auto pay).

Also. embracing for the time machine jokes, I still think 16e 128gb at $299 for the phone, was a better deal and might come back - far superior processor, 8gb ram, Apple AI support, longer os update support, convenient usb-c port instead of lightning etc. These far outweigh the potential advantages from 14 plus - 256gb, dual camera, magsafe, larger screen size etc for me.
Not true for everyone/every use case, agreed. YMMV

Kind of weird, since their unlocking policy just states after "activation" 60 days later it will unlock and nothing about paid service 60 days straight

Yeah, the policy changes since April 1st has caused a lot of confusion. I purchased the 16e precisely on April 1 and despite the policy changes being published after I bought and they are not the same for Verizon prepaid as for mnvos, I am still going to recharge another month for my 16e, given it will need me to pay ($60 - $25 monthly discount on 16e deal - $10 from auto pay = $25) only. If I don't pay for the 2nd month and Verizon refuses to unlock in lack of 60 days of service, then worst case, I will have to pay for another consecutive 60 days at a much higher rate since I will loose the $25 discount. So, for $25+tax more, I am willing to pay to avoid any such risk.
YMMV

Had the same issue with visible. Their CSRs are being told to enforce an unlock policy inconsistent with what is published on the website. I filed a BBB complaint and got my way. I don't understand why they don't change the published policy if they want to enforce it differently

Wasn't the recent change an announcement by Tracfone for its brands? Verizon prepaid isn't one of them. Yes I agree it's confusing.

Also, yes, I agree, the 16e deal was a bit better (even if a bit more expensive) as long as one didn't want the larger screen.

How do you like the 16e?

Yes I agree that VZW Prepaid deals on iPhones tend to show up randomly and they are not always present. As someone who is a bit more familiar with T-Mobile than Verizon, I am aware that customer support reps aren't always going to tell you the truth. Plus as mentioned in this thread, Visible had that problem a few months ago, I think people bought the 13 and those who switched their active line to a new phone didn't all get their phones unlocked, even though Visible unlock policy didn't require 60 days of active service at the time--customer support reps were still telling people that 60 days of active service was required.

How's their $60 plan? Is it comparable to Visible base or is it more like Visible+?

Tax is $65!

What is the way their computers are programmed to automatically unlock the phone---or does it always take a call to a CSR to process the unlock? I'm hoping to learn from your experiences.

Verizon unlock policy for prepaid still does NOT say anything about 60 days of paid service. methinks the CSRs are bluffing. iPhone 16e deal-holders please report on your success/ failures soon.
