Correct me if I'm wrong, this is pretty close to the ROG Ally handhelds, right? But the Z1 and not the Z1 extreme. I'm pretty happy with the performance of my Z1 extreme Ally on games like Helldivers 2, but this would be a bit slower.

What are people's thoughts on versatility with this? I have an old GPU that I could put in a dock of some sort for light gaming. Then maybe use it for a personal server? I've considered doing a photo and video storage server. Could this do both? I recognize I will have to buy external storage in the long run.

Processor performance is way ahead of the standard Z1. Most people are not aware of the fact that the normal Z1 uses a Hybrid Core layout, 2 Zen 4 + 4 Zen 4c Efficiency Cores. Similarly, the integrated GPU is 740M with just 4 CU whereas this one has 8 CU

Yes, it can do that and in fact a bit overpowered for that. For storage, you can actually add 8TB SSD to each of the two slots as both of them support double sided SSD. And regarding eGPU dock, most newer TB3/TB4 eGPU dock will work with its USB4 port.

How does this compare to the refurb deal a week or two ago?

Are the Minisforum Windows loaded with malware like the Acemagic devices?

The general recommendation is to always install Windows yourself and wipe out whatever is sent with any PC.

Bought this model, did not use it enough to notice, but there were no intrusive startup apps or anything noticeable, I would says there isn't any, but if there is any, you can easily get rid of them. Would recommend the device though.

No malware on my Ryzen 9 7940HS pro... Amazingly good line of PCs by minisforum, imo. Love mine!

I currently have a SFF Dell Vostro w/ 64GB of RAM and an Intel i5-8400 2.8Ghz cpu .. use it for VMs (VirtualBox) which my employees log into via AnyDesk to work on. I'm running out of resources (mainly RAM).
Would this w/ 96GB of RAM work as a good solution?

Probably overkill for that but would still work well
