Obviously depends on your needs. The cons are 2029 aue, only 2 USB-C ports, no stylus support, no fingerprint reader

Yes, because you expect to keep a ( now $200) Chromebook for more than 5yrs.

The m3-8100Y is ancient. i3 12th gen / N305 Chromebooks have been $250-$300.

This is kind of beyond ewaste, the 8100y is an 8 year old dual core processor that was already painfully underpowered when it came out

Agreed, if this thing has a m3-8100Y, then it is definitely not worth more than $100, especially when i3-1215u/N300 laptops are regularly found for 225-300.

Not sure if you meant to be sarcastic. Chromebooks should last more than 4 years (particularly for families with young children) because they are meant lightweight computing -- browsing and watching media. I still prefer my old lenovo chromebook because of its crisp picture -- it is slow for browsing, but perfectly good for watching media. I use other chromebooks for browsing with multiple tabs open. If someone is trying the chromebooks for the first time, they are fantastic for daily couch surfing and also for schoolchildren.

Agreed. I have the i7 version of these and I used it extensively in 23/24.

But then got m1 air for $400 and this device have been dead for me. I also wanted Firefox and it's addon (unlock for me), so moving out of chromebook wasn't choice. Only reason I wanted CB was stellar battery life then m1 Mac changed my opinion.
