Random question. I've got the blink xt2 system installed ... Guessing this is not compatible with my system. Also can someone chime in on subscription services with blink now? Is blink now charging to use these cameras from your phone? Not free like the xt2 system?

Danng all over reviews.......so do you have to pay for service? Is there a way to keep better batteries in this? Changing them often defeats the purpose......

You don't HAVE to pay for service...however, then you'd have to store the video locally.

As for batteries, make sure you use lithium ion batteries (I like the Energizers), or they'll die quickly. I get at least 6 months out of my batteries

If you had a Blink account with an old XT2 system, you should be grandfathered into free cloud storage. But you won't get any of the more advanced features like person tracking and tracking across cameras.

If you created your Blink account before April 15, 2020 you are grandfathered in and don't need a subscription. The XT2 cameras don't require a subscription no matter when you created your account.

For real?! It's based on your account creation date and not the xt2 module itself? So you can theoretically upgrade your cameras and still get free cloud/push notifications? Is there a place on your account where you can see when your account was created?

If you bought your cameras before the 2nd half of 2020, then you should be able to use free cloud storage on the newer cameras. Just look for the digital receipts or invoice and see.

I have the Blink cameras at 3 locations. As long as you have a module at each location you can have service all under the same account with up to 10 cameras at each location for the same $10/mth total. Where can you get 60 day cloud service for $3.33/mth?

No subscription necessary if you have the sync module and sd card. Down fall of that is you will lose a few features and the local storage will have a slight lag in video retrieval.
There is an option to have the unit hardwired instead of using batteries. I have my Blink Outdoor camera hooked up with a 25ft USBC to an outlet. Do a search on Amazon. It will run you roughly $25-$30 for the kit.

I am currently using the Blink camera system. I regret purchasing this system.

Only one person can login and watch the cameras compared to the Ring system. I don't know about other camera systems...
If there is an event, you'll have to wait for the camera to finish for however long you set the record feature to, before you can check the live view. I set it to 30 seconds so if someone presses the doorbell, I have to wait for the camera to finish recording those 30 seconds before I can live view and talk to them. My cameras get tripped often because of neighbors so the batteries don't last very long for me. I wish they were rechargeable, but I think that is one of the reasons I went with this system. Next time I will go in another direction.
One of the indoor cameras died in the summer. I have to assume due to heat related issues. The ones outside were fine. I'll replace the indoor ones with a different camera system. I use local recording so that maybe why I have issues. I don't know paying for a sub will help with these issues.

Get something better.

If you're gonna spend that much, why not get the solar panel for the camera? I'm using that and it had been running forever. Just leave the batteries in there for backup in case you don't get sunlight for several days. I haven't change my batteries in like 3 years.
