You're better off getting actual wood boards instead of bamboo. Bamboo is sustainable, but it is harder than an acacia, walnut, cherry or most other wooden boards. This means bamboo is tougher on your knives and will dull them quicker. Bamboo are pretty cheap though.

Yes exactly what I heard. Stick to wood or plastic if you have good knives
