Should handle light-medium games well but you're gonna wanna go the egpu route to play 4k AAA games.
Very low spec gaming, I just tested Monster Hunter Wilds on the $849 version of this with the 890m and it was 25-35fps on the lowest settings. Wasn't even Series S quality.
Hard not to compare this to something like the $450 M4 Mini that's been available.. those run around 1.5-4W during 'real-world idle'.

That's pretty impressive imo. My 3070 only gets 50 60 on wilds lol

Don't worry, I googled it so you don't have to! Multiple reviews state about 10 watts at idle.
You can compare this to a Mac mini if you want but why? Windows vs Mac is fundamentally an apples and oranges comparison. They share some similar functionality but are different ecosystems.
Good enough for 1080p low-med settings.
That's better than the one that comes on the SteamDeck right?

Yes and no. This one ( AI 365) has 880m, which is based on RDNA3.5, and has max vram allocation of 8GB. This really is just slightly faster than 780M that you find in most smaller PCs (7840HS) which support 4G vram allocation. This is what you would call shared memory. A copy still takes place when data is passing between cpu and GPU ram. you cannot really do much with 8GB when it comes to any decent sized models.
This is not to be confused with actual AI MAX like 390 or 395 that comes with 8050s or 8060s, which used unified memory system that can allocation up to 96G vram, and the AI MAX is what most refer to when talking about running local models. because have you check the price for a graphic card or unified system that has 96G vram?
borrow from AMD
"Featuring up to 128GB of unified memory with up to 96GB available for graphics, systems powered by Ryzen AI Max for seamless and reliable multitasking, with the ability to support incredibly large AI models. With the addition of an NPU with up to 50 TOPS, Ryzen AI Max Series processors are the ultimate powerhouse for next-gen AI PCs and accelerating demanding AI-enabled workstation and creator software."

unfortunately the 395 or 390 chips is currently only sold by ASUS 13 inch and HP 14 inch laptop that demand a premium (i think my HP AI 395 cost around 4k).. it maybe a while before them become available in mini PC format.
