i really love the 'inteiligent' detection mode! LOL. i wonder if thats really printed like that on the front of it...
That's what it shows on the product image. Looks like there are a bunch of versions of this product for about $20. Sounds like using it as a float charger is not straightforward.
Im confused, what are people using these for? I understand it can't jumpstart a dead battery, but is it basically if you had a dead battery you could trickle charge it to full capacity (better for the health of the battery) overnight?

Yep, that's what I use one for.
Also, use a second one for another of my cars that will just sit for months so when I start driving it again, battery will still be working

I think main use is for super cold days and you don't plan on driving for a few days. You plug this on and don't have to worry about your car not starting.

Right. The battery doesn't have to be dead, it could be low. I trickle charge my batteries about once a month.

Oh interesting. Does that trickle charge once a month protocol extend the life of the battery, compared to just using it normally everyday (presuming we're talking about a car that is driven daily of course, not one that might sit for weeks and would definitely benefit from this being used as a battery maintainer)
Having a Desulfator mode is nice to bring back batteries that you may think are totally dead. Dissolving those sulfate crystals is a great way to get extra life of dying batteries.
I've tried a different version of NEXPEAK and it had constant noise from the fan and the display was super bright, does anyone know if this model has similar characteristics? Thanks!
I have one and have used it for over a year. Not that I believe it's desulfator mode can do any magic or good, in bringing a weak (Dying) or permanently dead battery back to life, but these can keep your good battery and bad car! (One with parasitic current drain or bad engineering design!) always ready and usable to you, despite long-term parking or cold weather.
Worth every penny, even at its regular price.
