I'm looking for the expert on these things. I have 3 cats and a dog that sheds a lot of fur. House is on the smaller side. Would something like this be good? Is there better value out there? Is it better to have a dedicated vacuum and mop or do these combination products work fine?

I've owned 2 Roombas and 2 Roborocks (Q5 Max + and QRevo) and this one was the best by far. Much better mopping than the Q5 ( basically pulling a wet cloth behind it vs 2 rotating heads). The floor FEELS cleaner.

Ya look at eBay refurb, maybe the dreame l10s pro ultra. There's a coupon that goes to the 19th that'll bring the cost down further. Look at this brand as well. Then go find the s tier atier b tier ratings video on YT and compare a few models.

I didn't even think about eBay refurbs. This is good insight, thanks!

If it was a top contender for 2024, it's likely good enough for you and I haha. I just wanted a machine that mops and vacuums that I don't have to think about but every once in a while so I got that dreame one. I don't have pets though.

The problem with all these smart vacuums is every model eventually loses software support and/or the company shuts down. Now you have an unusable working vacuum because the app isn't supported anymore. Don't get burned, just get a regular vacuum. This is besides the fact that batteries and brushes are expensive.
This blank statement regarding smart vaccums is not completely true. Sounds as though you have a personal grudge but did not specify any specifics.
I've had a RoboRock S7 for well over 3 years and its running strong. It constantly receives updates. The app is constantly updated and new features added. The batteries in my mine have yet to be replaced and I use it daily. The brushes are not expensive if you purchase them outside Roborock direct or catch a sale. I've purchased accessories from Aliexpress multiple times and the parts I've received are identical from the ones that came with the robot down to the packaging. Most manufactures are from China as are the part dealers and parts I get from Aliexpress. Don't mislead people without any facts.

Found this site that does great job comparing all the models, hope it help!

None of those are a problem with a regular vacuum.

I respect your opinion but once you get one of these robots setup and it runs efficiently. Your not wasting time doing chores such as vacuuming in a large house it changes your view.
To me like others with pets and kids makes a huge difference.

My point is they will only work as long as the company supports the product. Every single one will lose support, this is just a fact of technology. Now you're stuck with a $400 vacuum that doesn't work. You could've bought a $200 normal vacuum. This is true of every 'smart' device. Meanwhile a 'dumb' vacuum will last as long as you're alive to do chores. There is something humbling about doing a bit of work sometimes.

Can you name a single model that is no longer functional by Roborock?
The app will continue to work as long as the company is around. Sure new features will not be added. This is no different then say an iPhone. Your cherry picking at best and apparent have some grudge or hate toward either the company or robot vacuums in general. In 10 years or less I will have replaced it anyways so the logic makes little sense at $40 a year cost its well worth it. We buy all sort of things to make our lives easier and could have the same debate with those.

You are completely missing the value proposition and point of an AUTONOMOUS vacuum.
