I ordered two of these a few days ago off woot and got it really quickly. Great adapters used for Nintendo switch and fire sticks
You have this exact model? Don't you need the driver? I got this from last deal and couldn't get it to work until I downloaded the driver. According to the manual, you need the driver if you are not running Windows 10.
i wonder if this can be used on an iphone with the proper adapter.
I don't have an iphone but I couldn't get it to work on my TV nor my Windows 7 PC until I downloaded the driver. Most likely you will need the driver. There is one for MacOS but I didn't see anything for iOS.

I didn't use it on PC, fire sticks (with the micro USB otb) and Nintendo switch are both plug and play.
Keep in mind if you're buying this for faster internet speed (wanting to increase from a 1GB), you must have faster than 1GB internet service (i.e., XFinity), a modem that supports more than 1GB speed (the XFinity gateway I have must be plugged into the one port colored red out of six available) and a category 6 or higher cable that supports faster than 1GB speed.
I have an older ORBI RBR50 wireless router that can only support 1GB speeds so unless the Ethernet cable is directory plugged into the modem/gateway from XFinity, the max internet speed if connected to the ORBI or satellites is 1GB.

And any switches between the adapter and your router need to support higher speeds as well. Typical wired networking will come with 1 GigE (aka Gbps) only. If yiou paid extra, you might have 2.5Gbps or 10Gbps, but you'll be paying (and feeling) the added costs for those faster speeds. Heck, I have 30/6 service for $139/month because I d refuse to do business with the fibre competitor due to their business practices and nickle-dime fees for dealing with customers the old fashioned way with paper billing and actually letting us payu them, not them TAKE the money from our accounts.
FWIW, the AX88179 chipsets has been supported inside the Linux kernel since v3.9, so these should be plug-n-play on Linux.

I don't understand how to use this with Firestick that only has micro-USB, since this ethernet adapter only has USB-A, you would still need an USB OTG Hub to plug this device into, Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

That's correct a USB otg adapter is needed. Just Amazon one that has solid reviews then you plug up this USB to Ethernet to that and the fire stick will auto detect and get it set up once a network cable is plugged in. This adapter with otg also works with the Walmart Onn 4k Google TV sticks too.

At that point you might as well buy a native lightning or usb-c ethernet adapter for like $15
