I love the 80v Greenworks/Kobalt system. This is an excellent price. Every tool except the small rototiller works great. BUT the only tool I have had failures with is this tool. I replaced it twice under warranty as a Kobalt tool, and the first time it was seamless via Lowes, but because they are getting out of the Kobalt 80v, the second time I could not order the bare tool, so I received my money back. That sucked, because when it failed I really needed it to keep the HOA off my butt. So mine cost me $30 more than this, and $10 more than Lowes charged me on the paperwork a year ago with the 5 year warranty return as they do a return/buy again game at my stores.

I have a horrible suspicion, based on the sounds and the inability to move, that a gear has lost a tooth. Further guessing from their lawnmowers is that it's a plastic gear, as the retaining bolt for the
lawnmower blade is high density polyethylene. I treat it it carefully when sharpening blades, so I've had no failure there, yet. I also use a torque wrench on the wheel studs on my cars, to give you an idea of what I mean by careful.
