The QM7 is roughly the same cost. Older model but I believe it rates better. I just got it and I'm completely blown away.

I was just about to say the same. This TV doesn't perform nearly as well as the QM7.

Correct. The QM7 is a far superior TV. It's a year older, but you can actually update the firmware to the newer firmware that's on the QM7K. The QM7 and QM7K have the same hardware, so updating the firmware essentially turns the TV into the new model. You have to download it and install it with a USB drive. TCL won't automatically update their older TV to the new one, otherwise no one would buy the new one. It doesn't void the warranty, and TCL customer service will walk you through the process if you need help. All you need to do is load the zip file onto the drive, plug the drive into the blue USB port on the TV, go to the software update in the menu, and select "local update". That's it. The newest stable version is v201.

It VASTLY improves the color calibration and motion performance, as well as enables a "Filmmaker Mode" that has a picture much more accurate to what the filmmakers intended.

I contemplated getting that QM7 or this but couldn't pass up that $300 Costco deal for the Q77 with free 3 year extended warranty to replace a room TV.

I just got a 65" qm7 from marketplace for $150 and loving it. I'm going to do this to it for sure, thank you.

Yes i did! They had it listed for $300, I offered $200 and they said yes. Only reason they were getting rid of it was of moving. They wanted me to hold off until they moved so they won't be without a tv for a few weeks. I said np. At the end they gave it to me for $150 for working with them.

I had the 98" QM7 and sadly had to change it out for the 98" QM6K (matte screen) due to the natural light in my living room.

In regard to the QM6K, I can't speak to the 55", but I do own the 85" and 98" QM6K.

Don't let the reviews dissuade you into thinking this is some dimly lit TV from 2008.

Despite having a lower nit count Vs last year's QM7, I still have to keep brightness dialed down to 60% at night.
