Is there any way to know if these will work on the Switch 2? It seems like there's a good chance since the Switch Pro controllers work but not for sure.

Man there are so many versions of these controllers we need a chart showing what does what. I just got a Switch OLED, and bought 8bitdo Ultimate not realizing it wasn't the 2. So I returned that and got the Ultimate 2C. All I can discern is that the Pro is slightly bigger and heavier than the ultimate.

2C has extra shoulder buttons, Pro 2 has back paddles instead. Pro 2 has bigger battery. Pro 2 is compatible with more systems (see mode switch on back with 4 options).

Pro 2 is basically the best option overall and you can get v2 of the 8bitdo Bluetooth adapter for the BT version to connect it to systems that want something wired.

When you get it, you want to install their firmware updater on desktop, go to the about menu and enable beta updates, then put the latest beta firmware on it to fix a couple of issues including failing to save the active profile and diagonal inputs. Same for the Bluetooth dongle if you buy one. There are updates for both.

In case anyone was wondering, PS4/5 grip caps fit these sticks. Caps for the Switch joycons are a bit too small.

They just released a new leverless arcade controller FYI.

IMO the dpad on these Pro 2s pretty nice. Good feel, easy to slide on, pivots a little around the middle, it's in a comfortable position relative to where you hold the controller.

The M30 looks like it might be another option for your purposes. It has a round style dpad, maybe it's better if you specifically want to play SF. TouchArcade did a review on it for fighting games.

The D-pad is pretty clicky and just doesn't feel quite right to me. It's also highly biased towards the cardinal directions, making it very hard for me to hit most of the diagonals.

I disagree. At least on the two I own the d pad is not clicky. I love the d pad on these n I mostly play fighters

I appreciate it. Your bias make sense.

I've had this for a year or so, and it's a really good controller. I use it for PC gaming, as well as Switch emulation. It's great to be able to flip a switch and use it with basically all consoles and PC.

Nab these before they stop US shipments due to the unpredictable economic situation in the states!

I prefer the 8bitdo M30 for fighting games, but the D-Pad on these aren't bad.

M30 is the best for fighting games. I just bought a second one because I liked it so much. And that's with SNES being my favorite system and controller for retro games.
