However it seems unlikely that most homeowners would wear out the brushes in a decade or more. If using a tool that much, do get a higher tier even if from their older brushed generation. I have no issue using mid to lower power brushed tools now that we have cheap 4Ah batteries from Ryobi, two pack for $80 give or take.
