I don't know much about the different lines within the Fender guitar brand, but this seems vague. Is this something like the Player series?

I believe the new Fender Standard series that came out recently are 'Made in Indonesia'.

Standard series usually use Poplar wood, Player series usually uses Alder. Standards usually have ceramic pickups while Players usually have Alnico pickups. Standards are consider the benchmark while Players and Customs are higher on the scale in terms of build quality and components. Standards are usually made in Indonesia while Players and Customs are made in Mexico and the USA.

Good info. At this price I figured it was MIA. It's basically the same price as a Squire Vibe.

You can use the code for the Player series as well, just checked and it works, Fender Player normally sells for $800, with the code, it drops down to $639.99

Player series is the benchmark. Standard series has only existed for 5 months so in no way is it a reliable measure.

The current standard series is basically a 2000s era MIM but made in Indonesia. The player series is basically the older American standard series but built in Mexico.

FWIW, I don't think there's much difference between a good classic vibe level Squier and an average standard series. I've gotten vibe level squiers that easily keep pace with player series. For my money you're better off waiting for a sale on a vibe, as it'll be cheaper, or waiting for a sale on a player series, since it'll have better hardware and alnico pickups.

Squier with fender on headstock. Don't bother. Squier cv or fender player are both nicer.

I just wanted to comment here about Cream City Music, I bought a guitar from them last year and the whole transaction was flawless. They included a checklist card of their own that had things like string action height, intonation, relief. Basically a little mini setup on the guitar. I can't say for sure that they do that for all guitars, but the one i bought was around the $500 range, and It was a nice bonus I didn't know about when I bought it.

I think these made at the same Cort factory as the CV squiers. The serial number format (I think starting with ICF) is the same/similar as some other Squiers and Indonesian Fenders I've seen.

I wonder if they change the names on these to confuse all of us until we don't know what the hell is going on .. really. I'm fast approaching it and I've been playing guitar for half a century.

For a baseline so people can understand these guitars, it was general knowledge that:

American made Strats and Teles were the most expensive

In the nineties, Fender started putting out a Made in Mexico Stratocaster and Tele. For the record, the best Stratocaster I've ever played was a nineties MiM. It sounded like Floyd, perfectly.

Then, the last in line is the Fender Squires. They made these in Indonesia.

Now ... when you are discussing all this stuff ... consider that music is a vague analogy to life itself with expression and emotion. Mike Rutherford, guitarist for Genesis, decided to play a Fender Squire for the final Genesis tour. Probably for the same reason that God put the asshole next to the vagina.

You get to a certain point with guitars that is .. "Oh, that smells so awful. I want to have sex with it."

I don't know why that is in humans, I'm not that smart.

I just know it is.

I love CCM. I have ordered over a handful of pedals from them and have had great experiences with them. I received one that was defective and they did a good job handling the exchange for it

These are Squiers made in the same Asian factory where they make other Squires, but with "Fender" on the headstock. It's embarrassing that Fender is even doing this. It actually cheapens the Squier name because the Classic Vibe and Paranormal Squiers are BETTER GUITARS than these, even though they don't have "rolled fretboard edges" like these. These "Fenders" have ceramic pickups when the better Squiers have proper Alnicos! If you are one of those dweebs who must have "Fender" on the headstock -- even if it looks like shit like on these -- go ahead. Purchase it. But $150 less you can get a better sounding and better looking Squier that will hold its value better than these, which are the lowest-end Fender EVER produced! (If you don't count those nasty Starcaster Strats that were made 15-20 years ago.)
