If you ever plan on using LineageOS, Graphine, or similar: Remember that you can't bootloader unlock a Verizon(Visible) phone for it, ever. They mandate no bootloader unlocking. That includes Pixels. There are a tiny number of exceptions but in general Verizon and it's MVNO's never ever allow Android bootloader unlocking. T-Mobile and ATT don't do such nonsense (yet).
Need 60 days of service before the phone can get unlocked. So probably looking at another $45+tax added to the cost, getting the total to ~$300+ after tax. From that perspective, not looking like a great deal, especially with locked bootloader (important for me, as I extend the life/relevance of the device via custom roms, YMMV). There are already deals like $399 with activation for an unlocked phone on bestbuy and $399 for this phone at mint (can be unlocked upon request to mint if there is an active service for more than 2 months and that phone is not bootloader locked) etc
I understand running custom ROMs as a hobby, but these device have 7 yr update support...pretty sure the hardware is going to become outdated before the software support stops. This issue would be more relevant if this was a Motorola deal...

My understanding is Verizon Pixel phone cannot be bootloader unlocked. Which means cannot install custom rom and anything that require root access.

are the phones locked? Do they unlock? After certain number of paid months?? How long do you have to keep the plan?

The new phone needs to be activated then stay active in the US on the visible Network for 60 days. It should auto unlock after 60 days.

It would be nice if they did this with Samsung or iPhone.

Visible doesn't charge tax on their cellular plans. ETA: I'm not saying that it makes it a great deal...but would decrease uncertainty about the costs associated with getting the deal.

Previously "DEALTIME" promo from Visible allowed the basic $25 a month plan - https://slickdeals.net/f/18277897-visible-pixel-9a-128gb-230-phone-2-months-service-to-unlock-back-in-stock-230-240 - so this is about $40 less slick. If you have a friend with a referral code (or someone on Reddit) you can get $20 off your second month.

Looking like you can downgrade your plan earlier though. Base visible is $25 with no taxes and is arguably the best value for Verizon network. However the boot loader part is a good note. Almost wish I would have done that Google Fi free* pixel 9 pro deal from last month.

Yes, you can do that. Here is Visible's unlocking policy:
"Any smartphone purchased from Visible will be locked for 60 days from the date the device was activated on the Visible account associated with the purchased device. Once the 60 days are up, your device will be unlocked automatically."
There is nothing about staying active on the Visible network to unlock. Another poster implied that you'd need to stay in the US for the phone to be automatically unlocked and that's probably true. There is nothing about that in the Visible unlocking policy. However, I can see Verizon adding that unstated requirement.

i bought a pixel 9a in the previous promo and let it expire after 30 days...would it work if I signed up again to get the rest of the 60 days? i thought it was still only activation and didn't need 60 days
