I have a 65" plasma that is still going strong. However from experience from a couple of others that their power supply goes out, turning it into a paperweight, would this one be a worthy replacement?

No personally get a mini LED or an OLED if you're looking for that crisp picture quality with the colors pop

Plasma was high end whenever it came out so something this cheap and large size won't perform as well picture quality wise. If you play video games on it the input lag might be better than TVs of that era. Old plasmas may have better picture response, but input lag which is the time you input a button press to the time it shows on screen should be better nowadays.

Reviewers poop on IPS panels for black levels/contrast. I like IPS panels, and the black levels don't bother me at all. I like the wide viewing angles and colors. VA panels just look duller to me, and whites look dingy. I never bought a plasma because they always looked comparatively dim in store. They're probably fine as long as you don't have other TVs beside it. This tv they're selling here looks like it performs pretty dim too. The best thing to do is to look at one in person to see if you like the picture. Another thing to watch out for is that TVs that sell today have cut way back on video inputs. You are no longer expected to have legacy ports like composite, component, s video, VGA, or analog audio out.

If you want a top tier video image I would expect that to be OLED. I have been admiring the Panasonic Z95A
