The Ryobi one is so much more compact and a lot nicer. I have both and I hate how big this one is

This is the only model however that can handle my truck tires quickly compared to the alternate options

It's more compact, but what is it that is a lot nicer?

I think a lot of folks probably don't realize that a lot of trailer and full size truck tires require 60-80 psi, which most of the smaller units choke on. Some will do it sure, but it takes so long that at least I just get frustrated and go grab the pancake compressor.

I have this Milwaukee unit, and so does my father. We both use the heck out of them.

How do they work in the cold? My ryobi turns off after a couple minutes below freezing.

I've had no issues with cold, but if you have, i suspect that could actually be a battery issue rather than the tool. I try to store my tool batteries in a conditioned space until I need them.

What powers the inflator? Does it plug into the car's accessory socket?

Yes, I have both. I've the DeWalt for about 4 years and the M18 for about a year. They're both good but both have specific benefits and so, depending on use case, one may be a clear winner over the other. In my case, having both is definitely beneficial. To summarize what could become a long post, here's the best use cases for each:

M18: If you are mainly using it for automobile tires, especially if that includes trucks.
DeWalt: All round use including inflatables, bikes and automobiles.

The more lengthy comparison:
The M18 is extremely fast and amazing for topping up car/truck tires (or completely filling them). It seems like it burns through batteries much faster than the DeWalt, i.e., it would inflate fewer tires than the DeWalt on say a 5Ah battery (but it does it twice as fast). They are both similarly noisy. I would be concerned out using either in an enclosed location without hearing protection. On both, you set the final pressure, press a button and let the inflator do the rest, but the M18 has memory storage for three pressure values, whereas the DeWalt has none. However, if you try to use the M18 on a small volume such as a bike tire using a preset pressure, it fails miserably, whereas the DeWalt works just as well on bike tires as car tires. Also, good luck trying to inflate a ball with the M18! The DeWalt also has high volume low pressure mode (with separate inflator tube) which works on pool inflatables etc. Therefore, overall, the M18 is pretty useless for recreational stuff such as inflatables, balls and bikes, but the DeWalt shines and these tasks as well as doing a decent enough job on automobile tires. On the other hand, if it is purely for automobile tires (and the battery platform isn't a consideration), the M18 is the clear winner.
