Any drawbacks to these specs, in a general sense for light gaming? How's the cooling?

Pretty close to pulling trigger on the ASUS tuf a16 7700s for $800 on bb. Is this worth the difference in price?

I know there will be a pretty big price delta. But how much of a difference is there in a 4070 and 5070?

The 7700s competes with the RTX 4060, beating it only in some games. The 4070 is superior. You also need to consider the significant size and weight differences.
That said, if you want to buy the A16, you'd better do it quickly, as the deal will expire in a few hours.

A16, I believe it's a better bang for your buck. Although it's overpriced, as it's been in the $679-$749 range multiple times in the past.

Yeah, it was $699 when I bought it last summer.

Yes, in terms of future-proof, it's the Omen.

What Dr misses out on mentioning is that the 4070 is better, BUT only by a little bit. 10-20% depending on the game, and it will not be good for 1440p modern games since it only has limited VRAM, which this ships with....
Best use case is high refresh esports titles at QHD. Better bang for buck is A16 or the cheaper Omen since this will not be able to run at high details at native res on the built in screen for AAA titles. If you're OK with that it's good.
