Anywhere from 20-50% more power than you actually need, depending on what CPU it's paired with and the rest of the system specs. The native 12VHPWR cable is nice to have but the adapters work just as well.

None, if your PC isn't shutting off. PSUs do not bottleneck: they either work or they don't and shut down your computer when their limits are exceeded. The one caveat is low quality power supplies can slowly damage your computer over time with dirty power.

This overkill for a 3090ti? Do I need that 12VHPWR cable?

If you think EVGA is going to be around long enough to honor that 10 year warranty then you haven't lurking r/EVGA and been watching the decline of customer service for about the past year or so. They are barely a shell of their former glory now.

Which is incredibly disappointing in how when they stopped making gpu's they said essentially their business wouldn't be affected (or something like that)

The massive size of this PSU tells you this is all the power you will ever need in your gaming rig.

Wondering how much of a bottleneck my 850 watt psu is for a 5080 vs this?

I bought this PSU for $230 two and a half years ago. oof

Good PSU, though. It's long, so take that into consideration. It fits ATX cases just fine but my new case has a HDD cage I needed to move further in to make room for the PSU.

This PSU has already followed me along to a second build so I'm at least getting my money's worth.

I have the 1600watt variant. Bought it years ago. Built like a tank. I've never had a power supply go bad on me. Knock on wood.

Sadly this is looking like the case, they made their forums read-only recently too: https://www.tomshardware.com/tech...-to-reddit

If you don't mind getting a 12vpr adapter then this is definately worth the $. Yes, evga may not be around long enough to honor the warranty but tbh I've never really heard of their PSU failing, had a few of them personally without issues.

This is overkill for almost anything, but it's not a bad price for a power supply that you can be confident will probably handle anything you throw at it. I have a build with a 3080, a lot of SSD/HDD/Optical drives and a lot of air cooling running happily on an EVGA 650W supply. Your 3090ti won't need dramatically more than that.
