I guess it's an ok price, should be closer to 2K. Problem is that it's a dead end platform, meaning that when the time comes for an upgrade you have to upgrade the mobo and CPU, but that only matters if you generally do upgrades instead of just buying a whole new box every time.

For $160 more go with the AM5 version instead. Best gaming CPU on the market right now and next gen is likely to be in the same socket. Deal here: https://slickdeals.net/f/18356128-powerspec-g723-pc-amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-rtx-5080-64gb-ddr5-2tb-ssd-2400-select-stores-free-store-pickup?src=frontpage
2k is what your paying for the CPU and 5080 alone. It's a good deal

The Intel i9 is way better than the Ryzen 9800x3d though?

Not only is the Intel LGA1700 dead (you won't be able to upgrade to a better CPU in the future without replacing the mobo), I wouldn't trust 13/14th gen intel with the oxidation and degradation issues. Yes intel claims it's fixed, but they've bumbled this whole thing. Time will tell how bad it actually is.

100% go AMD in my opinion. This is coming from someone who has a 12th gen intel chip.

vast majority of people are not looking to upgrade cpu in 1-2 years. people who buy 98003xd are not looking to upgrade to very next gen cpu. so "dead socket" doesnt matter for most people.

I would pull the trigger on this if I lived near one, because my PC (bought back in Nov) was $2300 from Costco after -$300 coupon for similar specs except 4080 super, 5600 RAM, only Wind 11, and CPU was F series which is $50 cheaper than KF.

For gaming? Absolutely not. 9800x3d unfortunately sits at the top of the list.

If you are gaming at 1440p and 9800x3d is not much better. 9800x3d has some fried chip issues tho.

With the PowerSpecs all 20% until June 8, there are some nice deals to be had. I just picked up a G911 open box complete for $2,300, which is $1,100 less than their regular, new, non-sale price:

It's an excellent pre-built. I couldn't have built it myself for that price (especially when I factor in what my time is worth).

You mean like the degradation issue the 14th gen i9 has?

Possibly a hardware flaw that is semi remediated by microcode updates. I have a 13900KS I retired last month for a 9800X3D and 9950X3D subsequently. While it was still functioning, the system was showing instability finally after over a 1.5 years of usage finally.

I would avoid 13/14th Gen at this point for prebuilts. Many fanboys will keep pushing for a 9800X3D but if you can get a good deal on a prebuilt, a 265K or 285K is perfectly fine if the price difference is significant over a 9800X3D build and has the same GPU.
