The NPC's talk a bit but you can skip past each step of dialogue (if memory serves), not all or nothing drawn out cutscene which are like mini movies. Also you can tell which parts are part of the rambling is part of the story vs unneeded character building. Very Fallout-ish.
*I will say, some of your companions backstories are next to useless and annoying AF . I skipped past all of that nonsense, companions add a lot to the gameplay so are worth keeping around though. Plus some parts require them. Overall narrative arc I felt was worth (semi) paying attention to.

FYI, this game was given out several times via Epic and maybe Amazon. Double check you don't 'own' it already.
Awesome game though, one of the few I have played through multiple times.

Prime Gaming offered the original Outer Worlds, Epic offered the Spacers Choice Edition, which included everything but from what I recall broke mods or was buggy or both. These issues may have been resolved since.

All that aside, I loved this game!

I personally loved the Spacers Choice Edition, but even after they 'fixed' certain things, it seemed like an odd choice to not allow people to install the version of their choosing. Some people want OG gameplay, graphics, cutscenes, etc but still get to enjoy the DLCs from SC. Plus the next gen upgrade was much harder on system performance so if you had a older or GPU-less PC it might edge you out from playing the game.
That being said, I've beaten the game both pre and post Spacers Choice, I preferred the latter.
