The bonus offer is a $5 Amazon promotional credit, not Google Play credit.

How does one get these gift card balances to auto apply to the yearly google one membership? I bought one of these about 3 months ago for that exact purchase, and of course they took my annual payment from my CC on file, not my balance.

Check in your google play subscription, you should be able to change the payment method on there. I just got google one myself and was curious about this too so please let me know if this was successful.

You can't change the payment method to the gift card cause it says "insufficient balance"... So stupid. Like, it can't figure out that it should apply all the gift card balance and then charge me the remainder?

Oh yeah you need the full amount on your gift card balance to fund the subscription.
