Does anyone have any experience with these? I have a wifi connected Kiddie that is driving me insane as it cannot keep a connection even being 5 feet from the router.

Smoke detectors should be stable, or if you have these smart installed then make sure to keep your wired one as well. I don't have this model but wifi tends to be not as stable depend on your home network. Zwave are better in terms of range and connectivity (IIRC First Alert has one Zwave model, or you can try looking at Zigbee but should always check if they are qualified in your country).
I really wanted these to work, but they are not UL listed. Smoke detectors feel like one of the few things I would want to really confirm they are properly tested

I'm pretty happy with the install. I have an old wired setup with basically one on each floor, but wanted additional smoke detectors in the bedrooms, garage, workshop, etc. Install was simple and it walked you through it. Paired easily. I placed the base unit in about the middle of the house, but towards the rear window as I wanted it to pick up my workshop that's about 150 feet away. It did easily.
I had one false alarm - steam from the shower when my kid forgot to turn on the exhaust fan and it worked it's way over to the bedroom unit. (Obviously you're supposed to put them away from the shower, kitchen, ceiling fans, registers, etc.) I got instant pre-alert, plus notices on my cell and email. I ended up picking up a second set of 6 (it's cheaper to buy them in the kit than individually) plus added a set of 3 water leak sensors.
My main units are Google Nest - but these are supplementary. I'd buy them again for retrofit applications where you don't have the hardwire setup. The 5 year battery life is a plus. Hope that helps someone.

There is absolutely nothing smart about cloud based smoke detectors.

I have 5 of these. They are annoying in bedrooms because the indicator light flashes every few minutes. There's no way to turn it off. Luckily I was able to face the indicator away from the kid's beds and they don't notice. Haven't had any issues with connectivity or sensitivity. The only one we ever set off as in the kitchen though. I just pressed the test button on one in a bedroom and the app notification popped up within seconds. Have some with the carbon monoxide sensor as well and those also have the flashing light.

I was almost tricked by this as well, but the wording "tested to meet" is not the same as "UL certified / UL listed". I went so far as to talk to a friend who works at UL and he said "One giveaway is when a manufacturer says they are UL compliant instead of being UL listed/certified"
So unless this has changed, X Sense IS NOT UL Certified/listed. This is often your first warning before a major problem at your home and does not seem like something you'd want to risk your family for.
