Man, I don't know how anyone could buy and fly something this expensive unless you make money off of it. Every time I launch my entry level $400 (now worth $250) mini 2, I get a knot in my stomach, wondering if I'll get it back again. A whole lot of close calls including one loss.

How anyone can fly a $3000 drone for fun is beyond me.

You asked and as usual when people "don't know the answer"...the answer is money.

I'm guessing they have one of the DJI Care (insurance) plans.

DJI care, as with most insurance when you file a claim, is very hit or miss. My noob friend flew it straight into a tree and it wouldn't come down. So I didn't have the carcass of the drone. DJI requires that broken carcass to fulfill their $39 deductible to send you a replacement. But if you flew your drone into the ocean, lost it in a field, etc, they will not send you a replacement, even if you send them your logs.

I complained mightily and finally, they charged me $200 to send me a new drone after sending them all my flight logs.

Just cause you can doesn't mean you should. Unless you're making over $2 million a year, losing a $3000 drone still hurts like h.ell.

Good to know. I was under the impression that they would replace if you had video of it flying off or into the water. Perhaps it was a different tier of coverage they were talking about or maybe their policies have changed. It looks like they have 3 tiers but looking now it looks like the replacement comes at a discount price which is what you had to do.

I just came to say just bc you have money it doesn't mean you are stupid with it, 3K for a device that still exposes its propellers like any other $50 drone out there is beyond me Lol.
