Hi Here's the link for the Google spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...dit#gid=0"

This is the link for the Retro Catalog website: https://retrocatalog.com/

You can use their comparison tool [retrocatalog.com] to see the differences / similarities between various models.

Minui is easy and changes it to the most simple, battery efficient, and dumbed down device I've ever used. Auto power down when closed.

I have the 35XX H and it's a pretty solid unit, these were a little cheaper if you took the slow boat shipping pre-tarrif but these seem ok for todays pricing shipping in the states.

I have the RG35XXSP. Cool device, screen is too small.

This is a little bit bigger than a Gameboy SP. I really like this handheld's form factor, but the stock software that Anbernic ships with the device isn't that great.

Have this. Sleep mode is pitiful and the battery drains like crazy. Allegedly using an alt OS remedies this, but I shouldnt have to do that

The 40xx v is an amazing retro gaming device. Tinkering with these has brought out the hidden inner nerd in a nostalgic way. Awesome for trips and toilets.

I have one of these with Knulli OS, it's pretty good for JRPGs. You can play a little, snap it shut when you're done to put it to sleep. After 20 minutes it powers off completely. When you open it, it starts where you left off. The thing is small and the lid protects the screen when it's in your pocket.

My only major complaint is the buttons are precise but they're super clicky and stiff feeling, not like the membrane buttons you'd find on a Playstation/XBox/Nintendo controller. They feel really cheap compared to the Miyoo Mini+ I was using before and I wouldn't really want to play an action game on them.

I have the 35xx SP. It's collecting dust. Screen is too small, buttons are too clicky, and it's not comfortable to hold. Money is better spent on a different model or a telescoping controller for your phone.

Do the analog stick get in the way of playing since they are right below D pad?
That's one Reason I skipped and never got RG35XX H or the RG40xx H but V kinda solves it with 1 analog

This is built with the expectation that you'll want to choose your OS. Each OS offers a different experience, built for different users and different use cases. You should be thanking the manufacturers for giving you the opportunity. Also, it's $45 - You get what you paid for. And, setting it up and customizing it is half the fun for most of us - this is a tinkering community. Lastly, the stock OS isn't bad… it could be prettier, but it works just fine.

If you want something that's polished and ready to go out of the box, you can have it. You just have to pay more.

I own the H. The sticks are fairly recessed, they don't get in the way at all when using the D pad. Ergonomics are pretty good IMO, considering the size of the device. And easier to hold than the V's for me - too narrow to hold comfortably. I think it's mostly Game Boy nostalgia that makes the vertical form factor sell.

Buttons are way too clicky on SP. Form factor is cool but it's a pass for me. I sold it.

The others look good. I have the RG CubeXX

How do you all keep track of all these different emulator handhelds and their specs? It feels like a slew of these get posted every couple of months and there are so many brands and models. How do y'all know what's good or meh or bad with so many options?

It's very confusing and I think that's the idea behind these. Just overwhelming and makes it very difficult to compare. However there is a master excel sheet, or Google docs file, it's crazy detailed, there is also a website you can compare one against another and filter... To me, best emulator is still 3DS but the problem with thst is it's good just for Nintendo stuff. You still need a good one for pap and PS1 and ps2 but nothing can replace 3ds for 3ds and da games with 2 screen.I would say minimum these should run is ps2. I'd be OK with that. Sure ps3 is nice to have but that's pushing it.
