Yeah it's over 50% performance increase and also single core is significantly higher. Passmark score is 12,000 and 5500 Passmark score is 19,000. It would feel snappier and faster. And as long as your GPU isn't already bottlenecked, you'll probably see an improvement in gaming as well

About the same. 5500 is more efficient is the biggest difference. Not worth upgrading IMO, but if it's a new build, go for the 5500.

It's almost identical multi core score wise but single core performance is a little better. But you lose pci express gen 4 if that matters to you. I had a ryzen 5 3600 and last year I waited for a deal on the ryzen 7 5700X3D and it was a surprisingly huge upgrade for me. So that's the kinda territory you need to look at is the ryzen 7 or 9, 8-12 core cpu, wait for a really good deal on one of those.

I've got a Ryzen 5 2600, it might be worth the $70 for the performance bump. Not sure yet

It's less than a 50% improvement… so it is an improvement but not a huge one.

Yeah but only like 30-40% improvement. And again depending on your GPU you're running, if your GPU is a 1050 ti for example, you probably wouldn't see much improvement.

I know someone who is considering this cpu as an upgrade / replacement to his old Intel i7 4790k. It's a pretty huge upgrade and he already has a B570 motherboard kicking around.
