Bought this from TJ Maxx for $12.99 and there is a slightly odd smell to it that only gets stronger when mixed in a blender bottle. At first I thought it was my blender bottle, until I did a good clean and still smelled something off. It wasn't until I realized I just started using this and smelled it and that same smell was faint. Is that normal? There is an expiration date of 11/2025...

It's more than likely one or multiple of the ingredients in it.

So it sounds like you're smelling what the rocks cooking

It's the Betaine. I know this because I make my own pre-workout. I don't use Betaine anymore. I found it's better to mix 10g of citrulline with 5-10g of creatine. Throw in a flavoring packet that you like and call it done. I'm sure some of the other ingredients have some effectiveness (mostly for focus) but most of the other ingredients are fluff. Beta alanine can be felt if you like that tingling feeling in your butt and has been proven to have some minor effect but you would need to take a lot more than this dose. I mean a lot more. I don't use caffeine in my pre-workout as I train later in the day and drink my daily limit using coffee in the morning.
