105w 5070 should be fine for 1080p gaming even with its low 8gb VRAM, but the 5070 Ti is a much better chip for a few hundred dollars more. Feels like a 5060 based laptop for a few hundred dollars less makes sense for 1080p and the 5070 Ti would be good for 1440p. This 8gb 5070 kinda sits in the middle.

It's not that much better tho. Only about 10-15% especially on 4k. Is that worth $200-500 more?

Are you saying the 5070 isn't much better than the 5060 or the 5070 Ti isn't much better than the 5070?

Both really but 5070 to Ti. That 4 gb doesn't actually do much so far; especially at higher res when we think it would.

On paper it should be much more so maybe it will eventually

It's definitely not enough for 4k, but it's certainly a way better option for 1440p with its 192 bit bus and 12gb. 128 bit and 8gb can only do 1080p at this point. 5070 Ti mobile is very close to mobile 4080

It is a better card for sure but looking at a few different comparisons it's not even a 10% difference most times

Not the greatest site for comparisons. If you look at the raw stats of the 5070 Ti vs 5070, in many places it has rather large advantages. Notebookcheck would be a more widely accepted site for comparison vs techcity. Some real world examples from there would be:

3DMark - +20%
GFXBench - +31%
F1 @ QHD - +51%
Elder Scrolls @ QHD - +28%
Indiana Jones @ QHD - +56%
Indiana Jones Ultra Settings @ Full HD - +55%

As you can see - in real life gaming versus just benchmarks, there can be a huge difference.

I honestly couldn't find anything but desktop comparisons. That's the one I pulled.

I do think it your going 5070 ti to just slide up to 5080 as it's not a huge price difference

The desktop version of the 5070 has 12GB VRAM as opposed to the laptop version which has 8GB. There's a bigger difference between the laptop versions than the desktop versions.

Couple of things to note. I JUST pulled the trigger on the lenovo Legion deal from walmart, and now having serious buyers remorse for my cousin, which tbf half the reason I wanted the deal from WM was because of the return policy.

So My Amex Blue cash has 50 back on 299. My business one is $300 back on 2k+. The $50 brings this down to exactly the price of the Legion WM deal except with a better processor, smaller SSD and a worse screen BUT in return you PROBABLY get better build quality, and you get a 5070 instead of a 5060 which is a pretty sizeable jump.

I feel like this with the 500 nit screen, or the deal of the day in the other thread for a AI RYzen are pretty much the deal to beat right now. Way better than the Legion deal unless you just have to have Oled...
