Wondering if i should dump 990c. So far it's working well at 80hz cutoff and gain of 5.
Well, anyone considering this is probably concerned about quality and Rs are not good. They're better off getting 2 good fronts and a a sub. I would recommend RP-5000Fs ($500) and a RP-1000SW. This puts you right around $900 and will give you speakers that sound great, especially compared to these. You can always add a center and surrounds later. If your mom's anything like mine was, she's probably happy with anything you do for her. Enjoy every minute you have left with her. No one loves you like your mom.

If you're mainly streaming & the 990 is working well you might want to just stick to it imo.
Traditional speakers won't actually improve the inferior content by much if at all.
Not to mention to take advantage of a traditional setup, proper implementation is vital.
The quality of each of them matters quite a bit also.
You can't just stick a speaker in a room, unfortunately not that simple.
These "upfiring" designs are not ideal & can be a big challenge with proper implementation.
That's my thought as well. Sell the center, buy a larger one and it's a decent setup
Actually they are basically the same speaker, one is just built in.
An advantage to the rp500sa & a better option is because they aren't built in.
Instead of you moving your seating position, you can adjust the angle of the rp500sas.
If you have the II's you can use them as height speakers also.
You just have to make sure the frequency switch is in the correct position.
Ultimately all those positions are just alternatives for people that can't/won't do overhead speakers.
