For $20 more you can replace the ear pads with these deeper and much much softer and more comfortable velvet pads.
Takes like 10 mins to rip off old pads and install these. Highly recommend doing.

That was regular price about two years ago, things have changed with Covid.
Cheapest it's been in over a year according to Camelcamelcamel.

Probably one of the best open back headphones you can get under $100. I've owned these for 6+ years and they're holding up like champs.

Cheapest it's been in over a year according to Camelcamelcamel. $8 cheaper than buying from drop.

Kepa says this is the lowest price in over a year for the 9500 and lowest ever on the 9600.

The Used Like New prices of $48.10 for the 9500 and $58.49 for the 9600 are lowest in a long time for ULN.

I got the ULN 9600 from Phototech last week using their standard free shipping. It shipped the next day by Priority Mail and did look new in opened retail box.

These 2 headphones look a lot alike and feel alike on my head, (light and comfortable) but the 9600 has a more bass and mid-bass and is a bit less crisp on the highs.

I think it is strange that a member since 2017 would use their very 1st post to misinform about these prices, which are quite good, not regular.

Why not helpful? It takes a great sounding headset and turns them into a super comfy pair too.

For the SHP9500, the genuine Shure pads for the 840, [amazon.com] 940, and 1840 are also good replacements and cost about the same or less. I got the HPAEC1840 [amazon.com] which are more comfortable and have a bit more bass I think.

A lot of people say the original textured cloth pads feel just fine. So try first. I think mostly bearded folk do not like the originals.

I have the 9600. I don't mind the pads, but I'm wondering if I want to try the velvet ones, do I need to remove the current cloth pads?

I do not know the procedure for swapping out SHP9600 pads but a quick google indicates it may be complicated. So I suggest you do some research on it before ripping away. Confused

Thx for the great info Groch but now I dunno if I should return the 9600 and get the 9500 with 1840 pads as you suggested. LOL

Good deal on a decent entry level open back headphone. Usually around $75 post covid.

Since you own both, which one is better? The 9600 or the 9500 with the 1840 pads?
