12" are tough. The blade starts to warp or wobble afternoon some serious cuts. I'd say stick with 10" unless you are regularly cutting some serious size board.

This is Dewalts top of the line saw. It's not available year round.

Shadow line is great, better than a laser. Cut capacity is huge. It's a great saw.

This price is not incredible, though.

I have this saw and love it. It was an upgrade from my Craftsmen 10" and HF 12" compound slider. The saw is smooth and cuts precisely. It is obviously really heavy and bulky but if you have the room and $$$ I would highly recommend this saw. I also recommend a stand with wheels.

I second that. I use the RIDGID Universal Mobile Miter Saw Stand from Home Depot. Normal price is $200, but it usually goes for $99 around BF. I noticed that the stand bundled with a permanent marker is currently on sale for $130, if you need to purchase the stand now.

Worth it to step up from the Ryobi 12" slider to this? The Ryobi has some quality issues and single bevel is annoying, but it is also half the price of this.

Sweet, thanks. I've been waiting for a deal on the ridgid stand. Went ahead and jumped on it now.

When you can upgrade the 779 for $70 or so and the 779 is $399 [amazon.com], yea, I would like to see this saw a little cheaper. But, this is the deal today if you need it and don't want the hassle of upgrading the 779 to save a couple of bucks.

Home Depot [homedepot.com] and Lowes [lowes.com] have for same price, with Lowes until 9/29

Maybe another perspective for someone. I have the FlexVolt version of this saw, and I love this thing. Mounted on the Dewalt rolling stand, and I just moved into my permanent shop (after dragging everything in and out of a garage for years).

Again, I love this saw, but I cannot figure out how to build it into a miter station. It's just so deep. To give room for the side counters to be in line with the fence, but also enough off the wall for the sliding rails to fit, the 12'-15' miter counter would have to be ~3 feet deep at least.

Do other people have counters that massive just for miter stations?

Looking at selling it and downgrading to a 10", as the amount of super wide cuts I do is small, but I really do love it so much. Maybe I'll keep it set up in the corner, and put a 8 1/4 or 10" for the daily stuff.

Great saw (used it numerous times at a friend's house), but I just couldn't swallow the price for the frequency with which I need a miter. I picked up the equivalent Metabo on clearance instead ($260) and have been very happy with it. For half the price, I feel like I got 90% of the DWS780.

I had a Ridgid 12" dual bevel miter on the Ridgid rolling stand. Both outstanding but took up room like you said.
After many great years of use, I sold and got the dual bevel, dual battery makita 10". I now have it on my bench. The sliding steel tubes are fixed and saw goes forward so it's not too deep. Been a great saw so far.

Awesome-- I'll look into that 10" then. Now that the cabinet saw is set up, I'm finding I'm using the miter less and less. Still vital, but just can't give up so much shop space just for it.

Cuts on my table saw are so much more accurate than this beast of a miter saw.

I use an Incra jig for all of my miter cuts unless the piece is just too long to safely handle or I'm working on something away from the shop. But even then, I find the little 7-1/4" slider gets a ton more use than my DWS780. For me, this DeWalt is literally a dust collector, it sits in the corner and collects dust.
