1. Is Pioneer Elite still a thing?
2. Is Pioneer Elite still a thing the way it used to be a thing? (i.e., remarkably good)

I do know that the internals of the Elite should be nearly the same as some of Onkyo's NR receivers. Similar to how certain Demons are nearly identical to it's Marantz counterparts. The Elite series also have longer warranty compared to other Pioneer receivers.
Can't answer the second question as I haven't really followed their receivers recently.

This Pioneer will only do a single crossover that applies to all channels instead of adjusting to individual channels though. It might get a fix in the future with firmware, but do keep this in mind.
That said, I bought a open box Integra on Crutchfield for $1130 since it has 9.2 pre-outs. Do some "research" and educate yourself before making a decision.
If you can wait a bit, have the extra inch height in your cabinet, you can also wait till you get your hands on an RZ-50, which is the LX505/DRX-5.4 and way more features for $300 more.
Some people are gonna crap on this and say Onkyo just went bankrupt yada yada (true but Voxx/Sharp will keep making/supporting these), and recommend a X3700H, which is a valid and good recommendation.
I just think DIRAC Live is a much better/easier room correction suite than XT32.
