If the internet is out it will work as regular switches. They will have a blinking red wifi sign to show you the internet is down, but they will work normally. If I'm not wrong, they will keep the present state when the power cycle, or maybe off, I had some power outages and didn't have to walk around the house turning them off, but I'm not sure if the lights that was on remained on. But it will not wake you up in the middle of the night in case of outage.
Tp-Link is staying in business as far as I've read. Matter compliant devices should come out by the end of the year. I don't think they've announced if they're going to release their new products under Kasa or Tapo branding.

What's the latest on whether Kasa is going to stay in business?

They've discontinued the filament bulbs, no longer on their US website.

Do these work without internet? what happens if power cycles?

I have some seng-led and power cycle means all the lights in my house turn on, and they don't work without internet.

They need the internet, the plugs there is still a manual button you can push, not sure about the switches

You need internet to control them using app/Alexa. But you can manually turn them on and off like normal switches.

AFAIK they only need internet to switch wirelessly, to sync time, or to program.

If power cycles, they lose track of accurate time, so any schedules are out of sync.

They usually have a state that can be set as the default for when power comes on. Eg you can set that to off if you want.

If you only lose internet, they'll normally remember the time and any schedule and continue on.

It's not just a question of branding, the technology of Tapo is fundamentally different.

Not a lot to see here in the on/off and dimmer switch categories. A bit of a break on the HS200P3 on/off 3 pack at $32, but they've been sub-$30 on occasion. The pricing on the individual on/off switch, individual dimmer switch, and dimmer 3 pack are everyday pricing.

I'm waiting with baited breath to see if they update the firmware to support matter. (Hopefully the hardware supports it).

Are these smart switches easy to install on standard switch panels of 2-4 switches? As in adding one of these smart switches to standard switch panel where you don't need 4 smart switches?

If you are comfortable installing a typical light switch, these should be not much different. If uncomfortable, might be worth it to get an electrician.

Does anyone know how these compare with Feit smart dimmers? Those have been giving me nothing but problems for switches on the same circuit.
