This is a great device, especially for those with kids. Not having to juggle around for keys is game changing. Once you get used to it, it becomes annoying having to go back to using a key.

I have the 3rd gen and these are my thoughts:

Pros:
1. Unlocks the door before you even get to it. For me, this is about 15 feet from the front door. I can't express how nice it is to not have to use my key. I have two kids, frequently carry groceries, takeout, bags, etc. I don't know of any other smart lock that unlocks on its own without requiring a pin, fingerprint, phone tap, fob, etc

2. Works with existing lock and doesn't show the smart lock on the outside. I have a highly rated lock that also makes it easy to reset the physical key. Not having to get rid of this lock is great. Assembly was very easy.

3. Works great with Google assistant. Part of my nighttime routine is having the door lock, has saved me quite a few trips to the first floor when someone forgets to lock the door. Also, I hate the way smart locks look so having the clean front door look is worth it.

4. Easy to setup and get started. Good guest access. Unlock and lock from anywhere via app

Cons:
1. Android can be more finicky with auto unlock, I've had to reset things on my phone a few times. Wife has an iPhone and never has had issues.

2. Auto-lock features not nearly as robust. I don't even use it, more likely will lock myself out if I do

3. Takes a lot of batteries. Battery life is good, maybe changing the batteries every 7 months or so. You get lots of notification when batteries are low. Lock is still fully functional with the physical key of battery does completely drain

4. App can be slow or unresponsive at times
I have the 3rd generation of this lock. I can't understate how useful it is. I have it set to unlock my door as soon as I'm in Bluetooth range. Having to juggle keys is a thing of the past.
Couple of things to be aware of with this lock;

1) Goes through batteries. I have to replace every 3 months
2) If you use Apple Homekit the syncing can be a bit sketchy.

For those wondering, both colors are on sale. This is a great lock that allows you to use your existing deadbolt - with the benefit of no one realizing you have a smart lock from the outside.

How do you open/close the top lock from the inside?

Do you get a notification if someone opens/closes the lock manually with a key from the outside?

What is the benefit of someone not knowing it's a smart lock? I figure if a highly skilled hacker is at your front door to hack a smart lock, your home is targeted and they will break in regardless of type of lock.

Have had it for 1.5 years now. Love that it automatically unlocks in the time that I park in my driveway and walk to me door. Also have it set to lock after 2 minutes which is enough time for me to throw out the trash and walk back in before it locks itself.

1. To install this, you remove the thumbscrew mechanism on the inside of your door (the thing your fingers grasp to lock or unlock the deadbolt). This round thing then fits in that same area on the inside of your door, over the lock mechanism (now sans thumbscrew). So to manually lock or unlock your door, you simply rotate this round thing in the pictures. To do it via the app in iOS requires just a few taps, and it has Apple Watch integration too.
2. Yes. You can see an entire list of door open / door close and door lock / door unlock events.

I've always wondered about auto lock… like what if you walk out the door to dump the trash without your phone and end up chatting with your neighbor for a while… will it lock the door on you? Can it be unlocked with Apple Watch only?

Had this for over a year and I loved the notifications and auto lock feature. Biggest issue was I am deeply invested in Siri/HomeKit and this was the one device that was unreliable. About once a month it would start says No Response and Siri couldn't talk to it or do automations. If I removed it from the Home app and re-added it would work for two or three weeks and then rinse and repeat. I basically trained myself go use the August app just for this one device and it worked reliably that way.

How does your batteries last that long... Mine needs to be replaced within 1-2 months. I had the 3rd generation and the batteries lasted for 6 months.
