Unlike a powder that you scoop or a liquid which you pour, these pods are difficult to impossible to measure/cut to the load size. That means you're usage is mandated by the manufacture and over-use is common. I bet these are very profitable for the company.

EDIT: The amount of downvoting this comment attracted is telling.

Sounds like for you, the attributes that they offer are offset by the lack of volume control. Which makes me wonder why you posted. I find the fact that they don't spill and have portion control to be something I like at times. And at 8.77 this is a good deal. Some of the other Tide deals that routinely come up are better, but this isn't bad.

No spills or fuss is worth it to me. Also most pods are smaller than the amount of detergent I would have put in by hand so they probably actually reduce my detergent use. Same for dishwasher tablets.
