The point everyone seems to be missing is the fact that is this catered to people who are slowly starting to diet. The amount of people that ditch weight loss foods because they taste gross or just are difficult to track is pretty high. It's funny that people are being micros and macros snobs on Slimfast...lol really? This isn't your market.

Honestly, there isn't anything in here that's going to kill you any faster than a can of preserved meat.
Vitamin D, lol. Oh noooo

Let me guess, protein isolates, to destroy your liver, and maltodextrin to spike your glucose.

Let me check...
Well i guess I'm wrong... But the #1 ingredient is

Cholecalciferol?? Wtf is that ?
Ya started on the wrong section of the ingredients list, that was the "continued" section, the ingredients started on the bottom left of the package. I'm not a protein snob, but I do tend to avoid RTDs.

Why? If you actually workout, even 30-45 minutes 3-4 a week, you need calories to build muscle. A scoop of malto with protein powder is a quick and cheap meal replacement. I'm no bodybuilder (6 foot, 215lb) but I eat 6-7 times a day, it needs to be easy.

The protein reduces the insulin spike of malto, add a scoop of peanut butter and you really don't get a "spike" of insulin.

Just an FYI - the 12 pack comes in Chocolate, Caramel Macchiato, and Strawberry and you can apply the 40% coupon once to EACH flavor.

I had a coupon for 25% off the milk chocolate. After coupon and S&S that was $14.60 for a 12pk before tax.

More like HFCS, multiple artificial sugars, artificial flavors and all sorts of other cr@p. EEK!

By the way, reasonable amounts of high quality unflavored whey protein is fine if you work out. nod

Via G00gle:
"Can too much whey protein cause liver problems?
The results showed that when whey protein is used in an uninformed manner and without exercising, adverse effects on the liver may occur by increasing the apoptotic signal in the short term and increasing inflammatory markers and hepatotoxicity in the long term."

That study was a little misleading as it used rodents. Another study using humans found that a high protein diet actually helped the liver.

"AHA Nutrition Committee suggests that high-protein intake may have detrimental effects on liver function. However, there is no scientific evidence whatsoever supporting this contention. Protein is needed not only to promote liver tissue repair, but also to provide lipotropic agents such as methionine and choline for the conversion of fats to lipoprotein for removal from the liver, thus preventing fatty infiltration.[20]

Rodents fed very high protein intakes have been found to exhibit morphological changes in the liver mitochondria, which could be pathological. However, Jorda et al. reported that the liver responds to the high-protein diet by a proliferation of normally functioning mitochondria.[24] Further, the branched-chain amino acids to aromatic amino acids ratio was also increased, indicating the absence of hepatic failure in these animals. The authors concluded that "the increased protein content of diet induced rapid increases in several characteristics of hepatocytes ... The results presented here constitute a good example of how the hepatocyte adapts to a continuing metabolic stress."

Further, protein catabolism is increased in liver disease and may be exacerbated by inadequate protein in the diet.[19] Unless there is encephalopathy (vide infra), the diet should provide high-quality protein in the amount of 1.5 to 2 g/kg.[19] In alcoholic liver disease, a high-calorie, high-protein diet has been shown to improve hepatic function and reduce mortality.
