It's not on Kohls, it's an Amazon thing. The email that comes from Amazon for you to do the return tells you where you can do the return. I don't have any idea how Amazon decides where you can return an item.

In the past, Kohls was always an option for me, but this last time I did an Amazon return, it was not. I forgot, had the return in my car and took it into Kohls to go ahead and do it there while I was at the store. That's when I remembered it was not an option.

I do live closer to a Whole Foods than Kohls, but that's been true for over 10 years, so that's not it. And I have done an Amazon return since they and Whole Foods became buddy-buddy, so that's not it. But it is definitely on Amazon.
We buy a TON from Amazon, so I also do a fair number of Amazon returns. What I have observed over the years is that the return options seem to relate to 1) the seller (if it was not sold directly by Amazon), 2) the weight/size of the object (big and/or heavy items seem to be limited locations) and 3) the price of the object (truly expensive items will have limited locations). Some of this makes sense to me - i.e. UPS is much more likely than Whole Foods to have space to store a large return like a bike rack - and some of them seem rather arbitrary - most likely based on the preference of the seller (and sometimes I suspect maybe the seller limits the return locations to discourage you from the return). Now that I've been doing it so long, there are definitely patterns and I can make a pretty educated guess on where my return options for a specific item are going to be.

I do very few returns to Amazon. I think I did two last year. Heck, the oldest one might have been returned in late 2023 instead of in 2024. The item I had to return to Whole Foods was sold by Amazon, less than $7 and about the size of a small box of macaroni and cheese, which doesn't seem to fit your patterns. Who knows for sure!!

The same thing happened to my daughter and I (we live in different cities). Amazon is no longer an option for us. It's either Whole Foods (there is not one close to us) or UPS.

I see on today's USPS Informed Delivery a mailer for 2/7 - 2/17 with the peel to reveal 30%, 20% or 15% with Kohl's Card.

If anyone wants to share a use of their 30% coupon, I'd be grateful. There's a cute blouse I wanted to get for a Valentines Day event at work but I only got 15% off this time. Alas.

I finally got a new laptop that has a working keyboard (10 years of life out of the last MacBook Pro) and I'm finally responding to posts.

Some of these reports remind me of a discussion I think we had awhile back, about how what you would get for an Amazon return depended on the day and/or time of day you actually dropped off the return.

The last time I tried to drop an Amazon return at Kohls, Kohls wasn't an eligible location for the return. I had to go to Whole Foods to drop off my Amazon return. The girl at Kohls told me they see that a couple of times a week. Lucky for me, I was there for another reason and had not made a special trip to Kohls for the return.

Kohl's kept restricting the return radius for eligible Amazon Returns. The radius last I heard was six miles.

My recent return from my home address gives me the following options:
Staples - FREE no box no label
UPS - FREE no box no label

But when I change the return address to an address in the same town/city as a store:
Staples - FREE no box no label
Kohl's - FREE no box no label
UPS - $1.00 no box no label

When I have customers come in and they have Staples/UPS/WFM, I will tell them they can try cancelling the return and redoing it, but change the address to one closer to a store. On eligible items, it'll work, but YMMV.

In terms of the coupon changing throughout the day, it's usually the same for an entire day. Possibly if the printer glitched when printing your confirmation/coupon, it might spit out the 25% (I actually saw one last week) without a barcode to scan instead of the usual 15/20%. I can't recall the last time I saw a $5 promo.

I can't state the number of customers who still come in daily still who still do not read their return instructions prior to note it is meant for UPS/FEDEX/USPS/WFM/Staples. A couple weeks ago I was informed of a customer who requested assistance bringing in their Amazon Return. I repeatedly questioned if it was for Kohl's drop off and was told the customer confirmed it. An associate goes outside with a cart and brings it in. It turns out to be a couch in multiple boxes/bags. It was brought to Amazon Returns and the customer pulls up . . . . a UPS label

Clearance HU: Last week there were massive new markdowns across the entire store. Something to note, most if not all of Food Network brand merchandise went clearance as the brand is leaving and we're getting a new brand soon to replace it.
