Great starter kit for any homeowner. This is what I started with 6 years ago. Downside is that you'll get hooked onto the ONE+ system and if you're anything like me, quickly run out of space to store all the Ryobi tools you'd snatch up from the SD alert you're setting up today.

Haha, true, but what a great ecosystem to get into. This or hart is what I would recommend to beginner.

Don't forget you can get an adapter so you can use ridgid batteries in a ryobi tool so there is really no reason not to get ryobi tools if you are a casual DIYer/home owner.

Pros should go pro but the rest of us don't need pro level of quality/durability.

FYI for anyone needing a circular saw in particular: This circular saw gets a lot of hate here on SD, it is probably the worse tool of the bunch.

Can someone ELI5 - is this a better kit than the Walmart branded 'HART' kit here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/HART-2.../662399776 ?

I'm a first-time homeowner (closing 6/26 Smilie

) and looking for a set of tools for some minor home repairs (replacing some drywall, cutting/making a form to pour my own concrete pad for a minisplit, possibly making a lean-to/car port in the future etc.).

Is it worth the $50 to upgrade from the Walmart branded kit to this, or are there really no differences?

Go with Ryobi simply because of the ONE system so you can use the same battery with other tools and HD has a sale on Ryobi so you can collect those tools slowly.

Yes this is way better than the Walmart one. It's a one go for all tools

Quality between the two should be similar (same parent company), and Hart seems to be expanding their tool catalog well. However, I do favor Ryobi for the following: more tools (225?, 250?), and can pretty easily get deals via Direct Tools or Tools Direct (eBay seller).

Ryobi tools go on sale a lot more often than Hart. So even tho Hart is the 'walmart brand' I'd say Hart is functionally more expensive than Ryobi

I started my 40v with Ryobi because of the budget 3rd party battery availably on zon

edit. I hope to never need them.

Just wanted to put this out there, I have been trying to get my Ryobi pressure washer replaced after it stopped working, and their warranty process is probably the worst I've ever seen. Nearest service center is an hour drive from me, and no matter what I've tried I cannot get in touch with their customer service. I submitted a bbb complaint yesterday, waiting to hear back, seems people online have similar experiences. Called Milwaukee this morning just to see, didn't have to wait on hold for a second until someone answered. Not saying Ryobi makes bad tools, but if/when they do break, you're SOL.

For the most part, either will do the job. I personally would prefer the multi tool in this kit compared to the sander in the Hart kit (that looks to be the only major difference between the two). I do feel you'll have access to a much larger line of tools from Ryobi as well, and they tend to go on sale quite often, especially from direct tools outlet. I've heard Ryobi customer support is usually pretty decent too from others, however I've no personal experience there.

Is that light particularly useful? What should I do if I don't need the saw, and I have an old drill and driver (so battery getting old at this point), but I would love the batteries, multi-tool, and reciprocating saw? Oh, and I would like them eventually, but don't need them right now.
