Don't get a wooden paddle even if you're a beginner. Not saying spend a ton but just do not get a wooden paddle

Lighter weight, some impact absorbance, better control. Carbon > fiberglass > wood. XS PAK is often $30-35, and some of their sets are thicker, which should be a shade stiffer and .better for control. XS XSPAK Pickleball Paddles Sets, https://a.co/d/3gR1hLA
