I bought one of these to replace an EAP225 but did not mount it when I realized it's practically impossible to hide the cat6 cable. The older EAPs were designed to hide the cable inside the mount. These have the cable connector on the outside making for an unsightly ceiling installation.

Thank you for pointing this out. I also have a ceiling mount EAP225 that I would have replaced with this. The exposed CAT6 seems like a major step backward in design.

It really is. You want a 90 degree connector for this, and even then you will see the connector by walking around the AP. Plus, a 90 degree connector means using a premade cable, which requires a huge hole in drywall.
I really like the EAP series, but I think I'm going to stick with the wall APs until they fix the design.

I'm a huge fan of the TP-Link Omada/EAP wireless. After fighting with various solutions over the last 20 years it's been nearly flawless

I put a single gang box in my ceiling, ran my hardwired Ethernet cable into it, crimped a RJ45 jack onto it, and connected that to a 6" flat ethernet cable. It isn't perfect, but it works. The bend radius on the solid core wire that should be in your walls/ceiling will have a terrible bend radius and not fit into this very nicely.
