Had like 15k ratings when I looked. Sur LA Table has been around for 50 years and has close to 60 retail locations in the US. Definitely nothing to worry about buying from them as a vendor.
The price posted though is a ship/sold from Amazon price when I checked just now.

Over the years I went through a few brands (Oster caught on fire) and none of them lasted a long time.
I have an older Breville I paid $200 for and it's lasted 10 years and I've abused it. I use it regularly and it still cooks great. I'm looking to replace it with this or the Joule version to have dehydrate and air fry modes. I'll use those functions to make it worth it.
Can you get away with something smaller or less expensive? Absolutely. Depends on your use case.
I like the Breville brand because it performs really well and is reliable. Part of that high cost is the build quality and accuracy. Some of it is brand name though too. Lower cost brands exist, you can read reviews and see what else is out there.
I like having some with advanced features but still sporting a simple toast button. I had the Ninja combi oven and it could do cool stuff but was pretty shit at making toast.
In terms of appliance I use most around the house, this ties with the fridge and might rank higher than the stove.
I used to have a stand alone air fryer, it was a bucket type and I could only reheat or heat up frozen foods.

I am a pretty avid home cook and this thing kicks all the ass. If you are on the fence just buy it.
