Is there a way to track the bonus? I signed up, got the card, but I don't see anywhere on the website if the bonus is active or how much more to spend until I reach it.

I use a feather quill pen and an ink vial.

My $1000 worth of cashback points expired without warning and customer support was extremely unhelpful, telling me they don't need to give me notice. Just remember to use your cashback ASAP.
How did they expire? Did you not use it for a year?

Jesus Christ. I got approved for the Double Cash card. Then the Citi fraud department sends me a text message a WEEK after - and this text itself looks like fraud mind you. Got that resolved by calling in, and finally they mail the card and I get it after another week or so. Then I activate the card and try to add it to Google Pay, which triggers ANOTHER "Citibank Fraud Prevention Services" lockdown. I call in and speak to 3 clueless people in a foreign call center, one of which is supposedly a supervisor/manager. They literally just blame the "system" and say there is nothing they can do other than SNAIL MAIL a verification letter or something, which will take 5-7 (!!!) business days. What the hell. It's going to be over a month after approval without use of the card.
Never had any BS like this with Discover, Chase, Amex, Cap1, BofA.

Do you get a virtual card number to use right away or do you have to wait for a physical card?

...the post at that link has nothing to do with opening a new card OR virtual CC numbers

it's an existing cardholder who got extraneous fraud alerts when using the card abroad.

OK, I'll connect the dots for you. Their fraud prevention system (which includes all the personnel) is extremely trigger happy and unreasonable, including new card applications. It's not just travel abroad. Just read the thread or do a simple search. With that kind of insane policy, how likely is it that they offer virtual numbers on approval?

I can't speak to what your thinking is here.

But citi, for a fact, gives virtual credit card #s on approval for at least some of their cards (can't speak to each of them).

So do many other card companies on one of more of their cards.

So again the dots don't appear to actually connect from where you started and where you ended up.

Hey man, I'm just showing you the bigger picture. We're talking about Citi here, not other companies. That's who you're dealing with.

If you have an existing relationship with them, i.e. low risk profile, maybe they'll give you a temporary CC. I wouldn't bet on it though.

You're not really showing anything except some vague hand-waving TRUST ME BRO stuff that just ain't so.

Your relationship makes no difference-- if the card type is set up to allow temp card #s you can get one on approval. If it's not, you can't.

Several Citi cards offer instant card numbers if your application is approved instantly. However, note that you'll have just one opportunity to view this number, so be sure to write it down. Plus, instant credit card numbers are not available on small-business or American Airlines credit cards, according to a Citi spokesperson.

I really hate these promoted CC posts, but this is really a solid credit card. Signed up years ago with no bonus offer bc it's just an easy rewards system. 2% off everything is great if you don't spend a ton (since there's no annual fee), don't want to deal with variable and dynamic rebate rates for each category of spending, especially if you don't travel. I just credit the rebate to my bill once a month. Highly recommended.

If you credit the rebate to your bill then you don't earn the 1% back for paying the bill. Better to take the direct deposit to bank account option. I also have this card for a long time and like it for the same reasons you do.

Been using this card for several years. Just put it in my sock drawer and will be using Chase Freedom Unlimited for the next 12 months due to double points promotion for first 12 months. Too late if you are interested. They just ended sign ups for it. This promo is excellent for an excellent card. Everyone needs a Double Cash in their arsenal.

Good advice. I just did that to about a year of cash back that I built up.
