I use a feather quill pen and an ink vial.
Never had any BS like this with Discover, Chase, Amex, Cap1, BofA.
Uh... what? Lots of cards offer virtual numbers on approval.

...the post at that link has nothing to do with opening a new card OR virtual CC numbers
it's an existing cardholder who got extraneous fraud alerts when using the card abroad.

I can't speak to what your thinking is here.
But citi, for a fact, gives virtual credit card #s on approval for at least some of their cards (can't speak to each of them).
So do many other card companies on one of more of their cards.
So again the dots don't appear to actually connect from where you started and where you ended up.

If you have an existing relationship with them, i.e. low risk profile, maybe they'll give you a temporary CC. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Your relationship makes no difference-- if the card type is set up to allow temp card #s you can get one on approval. If it's not, you can't.

If you credit the rebate to your bill then you don't earn the 1% back for paying the bill. Better to take the direct deposit to bank account option. I also have this card for a long time and like it for the same reasons you do.
