Chiaki software + Tailscale + ROG Ally/Legion Go/Steam Deck should get you all set up with playing PS5 on the go
The PS Portal doesn't really do anything except for offering a "portal" to your PS5. The capabilities of this ASUS ROG Ally are far beyond the portal.
Any beat up old tablet/smartphone can do what PS Portal does. 😂

Thx! I need 2rd controller, and also PS portal is less money. I am asking mysef, do I play pc game on-the-go?
So you are using the PS Portal as a controller? You can buy a second PS5 controller for $49 right now (a lot cheaper then the portal) and the portal will only allow you to play your PS5 in the same Wifi network. Basically acting as an extended screen for your PS5 with a controller attached, or a controller cut in half with a table plopped in between (depending on how you look at it haha). I'm sure there are ways to open the capabilities of the portal but I would honestly go with a device with more capabilities. But of course it depends on what you truly need it for. I never used to play PC games on the go but I do now more then ever. I even gave up playing my Nintendo Switch OLED and my kid uses it.

There are a few others to consider around the same price range, I would look in to the others to see which one best fits you needs (Lenovo Legion Go, Valve Steamdeck and this one). I personally really enjoy the Steamdeck and was thinking about this ROG Ally but they just released the OLED Steamdeck which fits what I was looking for in a handheld PC.

This option would probably work better since I believe you are tied to the same WiFi network as the PS5 right when using the portal, right? With this option you would be able to use any mobile/WiFi network (including outside your home network).

After seeing all the problems with the Legion Go I'm glad I got the open box Ally deal couple weeks ago. Have had zero problems with it so far (SD works fine). New Deck OLED looks very cool, but still subpar hardware compared to Go/Ally. If you just wanna play emulators and Steam games I'm sure its great. But if you want a more versatile full windows device the Ally is your choice. Playing MW3 on it right now and runs great...not sure how it runs on the new Deck.

Your phone can do what the Portal does. Lol. That's one of the most useless devices, and I'm a huge PlayStation fan. Literally all the Portal does is stream games from your PlayStation. You can get a clip for $15 that clips your phone to your dualsense controller and then just use the free PlayStation Remote Play app. Sure, the screen is smaller, but it's also nicer (as long as you have a phone with an OLED). The amount of people who are oblivious to what the Portal actually does just goes to show how poor the marketing has been on it.

You say the hardware for the Steam Deck is subpar compared to the Go, but also mention all of the problems that the Go has....

You know exactly what I mean. The specs on paper and real world performance. I'm sure there are also lots of Nintendo switch fans that love its uniqueness and would never think about upgrading to a PS5, you're in the same camp.

I picked this up and am very impressed so far. My kids love fortnite and I wanted a better option on the go than the switch. It works great with all my PC and games and Xbox so far. Do yourself a favor and pick up a laptop power brick.

Does this has DRM like how Xbox One had at launch back in 2013? I just want to play pc games offline and on the go. PSP isn't viable anymore.
