Well what do you want us to do about it?
I would be shocked if we don't see a refresh of this handheld within the next 3-6 months.

Even just the SD Card slot furnace issue would be enough to warrant one.

That said - this is easily my #2 pick behind the Steam Deck OLED. Excellent hardware - but highly compromised by the SD card failures and (relatively) small battery.

Steam Deck OLED is certainly the better handheld (in my opinion) - as it does more of the "handheld" things better than the windows devices I own. (Standby/resume - auto-updating games - no drivers/funny business - excellent controls/hardware - great battery life - "verified" games in the store)

I got the regular Z1 non xtreme for $300 last week and I've been loving it so far because of the higher resolution and 120hz screen compared to my Steam Deck non OLED. I want this higher more powerful one with more graphics cores but it's $200 more.

I will bite at under $400, very tempted, but I want a Legion Go more I think.

Certainly worth at this price. I bought it for I believe 700 with the preorder. I use it almost everyday at turbo mode connected to the power cable. Works really well. But gets heated easily and takes a while for the heat to dissipate after finishing the gaming.

In a similar position. Picked up what was essentially a brand new Z1 model for $270 out the door, and I just can't justify spending an additional $200+tax on this one. The 10% cashback on the best buy credit card makes it especially tempting, but between the SD card issues and the ROG Ally 2 likely coming fairly soon, I can't swing it. I already have a non-OLED Deck, and the base model Ally runs most games well enough, especially in Turbo mode, so I'll probably either sit tight and wait for the next one, or return the Ally and be content with my Deck.

I'm still on the return window for the Ally Z1 too. My original plan was to wait for the Deck 2 (or an Ally 2). I'm liking the interface on the Ally as I can run everything on windows. I got Windows installed on my non OLED deck too but wished I had the higher refresh rate. I had picked up this Z1 because it's a great price when you compare it to other emulator machines from Ambernic or Ayaneo. It can run PS2, Gamecube and Dreamcast easily.

That's because you're playing on turbo (30 watts). You get 80% of max performance running at 15 watts, which runs much cooler and will provide roughly twice the battery life also, should you disconnect from power.

It varies store by store, to be honest. I typically only buy open box Fair, since they're things I otherwise can't justify. Have had some stores that (consistently) mark basically brand new as Fair, another one didn't have a power adapter.

I'd go for it, and put it through its paces. After all, you can always return it.
