On R7 you can buy and install custom FW. You can't do it on this.
There are many site that compare R7 and R8 side by side and they all say there's no difference, none whatsoever that matters .

This has been around $630 for a long time on Amazon so it's about a $30 discount.
That's about it. Both great. Hard to recommend someone with an r7 to upgrade to an r8. But I don't regret buying both.
